How To Organize Your Home With Dollar Tree Items

Do you love shopping at The Dollar Tree as much as I do? Little secret, I think I may have a slight addiction problem. Please don’t tell anyone. Hehehe…

When it comes to shopping at The Dollar Tree it can be hit or bust. I have tried a ton of items and I go back at least once a week to see if anything new came in. My thought process is, if it doesn’t work, it was only one dollar. Can’t hurt the bank and you don’t have to much invested so either way it’s a win win situation.

I found 2 items this week that I wanted to show you that helped me get a little more organized.

1. Essential Non-Slip hangers ~ They are hangers that feel like velvet, very thin but sturdy and the hook part is also thin. I am loving these hangers because they actually take up less space in the closet which means I have more space to add more clothes :) They come 2 in a pack and in different colors. My store carries black, white, beige, red and blue. I gave it my shake test and it passed with flying colors. I have a lot of blouses with big necks and they tend to fall off the plastic hangers if something brushes up against it. The clothes grip the hangers so they don’t slip off.

You may be thinking 2 hangers for a dollar doesn’t seem like a good deal. I priced around and it comes out cheaper this way. You can find these all over the stores now but they cost more in the end. I’ve done half my closet and I can already see that I have more space.

2. Clever Cable Ties ~ These little Velcro closures are simply amazing and I use them all over the house.  They come in all different colors, which is great because I match mine to the color wires I am using. You get 8 Velcro ties in a pack.

You can see by the picture how thin the hangers really are. I did spread them apart so you can get a better look at the hanger. I highly recommend changing out your hangers if your looking for a little more space in your closets.

Here is one way I use the Clever cable ties.  I like to wrap the wires on my hair tools to keep them organized. This is definitely one place in my home that can get very messy very quickly. I used a yellow tie to show you how it works.

Here is a close up of what it looks like. The cable tie has a small opening on the top. You want to wrap the tie around the cable one time and slide it in the hole. This will attach the tie to the wire and it will never fall off. When your done using your hair tool, you just wrap it around and it will stay in place.

BEFORE PIC!

This may look a little extreme but I lie to you not, this is how the wires are in my living room. I am very organized and believe me when I say this drives me insane.  I don’t know about you but organizing wires is a very hard task. I sometimes feel like my living room is a best buy store.  I knew I had to get this under control because I have a 1 year old that is walking around and getting into everything.

AFTER PIC!

This makes me so happy now!! I use the Clever cable ties (in white) and wrapped all the wires together. I used a whole pack on this because I wanted to make sure they stay in place.  I also used plastic hooks (from the dollar tree) that have a sticky part on the back to keep them up off the floor. This will be easier for me when I have to sweep and mop. I attached the hooks to the baseboard and slipped the wires on to the hook.

Next time your in The Dollar Tree take your time and look around. You can find a lot of great items to get your home organized.
